The A/P Team Leader is responsible for Full-Cycle Accounts Payable processing including examining, verifying and reconciling a variety of transactions. Daily matching and posting large volume of purchase orders/packing slips to vendor invoices in Frontier software. Also supports general activities from the Accounting team by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Manage time and duties of the Accounts Payables clerks.
  • Ensure discounts and timely payments of vendor invoices by setting them up for weekly check runs.
  • Research, resolve and communicate and discrepancies or outstanding balances on vendor accounts, including telephone, mail or email correspondence.
  • Reconcile monthly vendor statements.
  • Implement and maintain systems, procedures and policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
  • Manage monthly closing of A/P records and maintain A/P files and year-end files.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required, including but not limited to assist with various audit requests, SOX payables controls and SOX expense approvals.
Manage and lead Accounts Payables clerks (currently a team of 3 people)

  • Degree in Accounting preferred. A minimum of five years’ experience or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Must be familiar working in a high volume and inventory-intensive environment.
  • A thorough understanding of a three-way matching system (purchase order, receiving and packing list) is required.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and account reconciliation skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.
  • Ability to work with vendors and employees at all levels of the organization promptly and professionally.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • High integrity and work ethic.


  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Maintains a “take charge" attitude; is persistent and tenacious; drives to accomplish objectives; influences others by instilling excitement and a sense of urgency; is proactive and demonstrates willingness to “roll up the sleeves" as necessary; assertive, but not abrasive.


  • Experience in Frontier or similar ERP is a plus.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, Internet savvy.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including calculations of percentages and discounts. 


  • Ability to exercise good judgment; makes decisions in logical and rational manner; demonstrates “common sense", practical and stays cool under pressure.
  • Ability to gather facts, analyze problems in depth and break down into components.
  • Organized with strong sense of priority and commitment to deadlines.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills that enable one to distinguish discrepancies, be able to find and implement resolutions for those problems.
