SUMMARY

Responsibility for leading the Materials Planners in their role of planning, ordering, and reconciling direct purchased materials required to support the manufacturing build schedules at our Venice, FL location. The position will be responsible for effective management of working capital, ensuring that inventory is managed at the lowest possible levels while achieving the agreed service requirements. This role is also responsible for improving supplier overall performance and identifying and executing process improvement opportunities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Provide leadership and direction to Material planning team that supports the attainment of business objectives.

  • Effective team management including personnel performance actions, resource deployment, talent deployment, and recruitment.

  • Achieve working capital requirements. Assist in developing strategies that provide sustained reduction of working capital while maintaining production schedules. Control all issues relating to planning parameters.

  • Decisions on allocation or prioritization of material across supply function.

  • Recommend methods to improve the performance of the Supply Chain including developing packaging strategy; improve delivery, and delivery times with success implementation.

  • Assist in improving and increasing the number of suppliers.

  • Manage supply base to ensure the timely and effective delivery of all purchased parts to facilitate manufacturing ability to build trucks per customer requirements. Work with suppliers on issues of poor delivery and quality utilizing things such as supplier scorecards. Communicate and improve plant delivery and performance metrics.

  • Respond to queries on build plan increases based on material availability utilizing risk analysis process.

  • Ensure there is effective communication between the plant and the Supply Chain organization.

  • Support delivery of quality product from the supply base at all times. Assist in PPAP certification process.

  • Initiate and support process improvement projects and the deployment of new systems.

  • Responsible driving performance of glass supply throughout operations.

  • Ensure process changes have documented work instructions and that the team is properly trained and can utilize new system capabilities and planning tools.

  • Make decisions on process improvements and project team participation.

  • Control budgeted expenditures allocated to this position.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership and direction to Material planning team that supports the attainment of business objectives.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration or Logistics required

  • Masters’ degree is preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing tactical purchasing and working capital within a manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience managing purchasing/planning teams.

  • Knowledge of elements impacting manufacturing inventory and knowledge of the forecasting process for inventory is required.

  • Working knowledge of all aspects of Materials Planning processes is required.

  • Knowledge of lean methodologies required with proven cost reduction track record.

  • Demonstrate planning, analytical, organizational and project management skills.

  • Experience working within manufacturing systems required, including understanding of tolerances and finishes.

  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to make decision required.

  • Must possess excellent negotiation, verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills to support liaising with various functional levels and with various suppliers and facilities required.

  • Experience using common PC software, including MS-Word, MS-Excel, and MS-Access, working knowledge of ERP with an understanding of bills of materials, supporting data of the operating system, and ability to apply the principles of lean manufacturing and Kanban systems required.

  • Possess verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills to support liaising with various functional levels and with various suppliers and facilities.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Demonstrate analytical skills.

  • Ability to control budgeted expenditures allocated to this position.

  • Ability to communicate plant delivery and performance metrics.

     

    RESONING ABILITY

  • Must possess excellent negotiation, verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills to support liaising with various functional levels and with various plants required.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • CPM or APICS Certified, preferred

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to visually inspect periodic deliveries of goods in plant.

  • Consistent daily attendance required to monitor material replenishment for assigned areas.

  • Work in both air-conditioned office environment and non air-conditioned plant environment.

  • Must be able to move freely and navigate through production floor.

  • May require some overnight travel.

     

     

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    Ability to travel occasionally domestically.

     

    Occasional: activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.

    Frequent: activity exists 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
