Title:Workforce Development Training Specialist

Designs and develops training programs aligned with PGT’s strategic vision/plans to serve PGT employees, leadership, and maximize employee potential.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans, develops, and delivers training programs based on organizational needs.

  • Develops new, and updates existing training materials including program promotion flyers, presentation slides, class handouts, quick reference guides, and surveys.

  • Populates the internal SharePoint based website with up-to-date content.

  • Serves as a resource for training programs and/or topics.

  • Participates in needs analysis to determine training needs for departments.

  • Schedules and coordinates internal and external training programs offered internally.

  • Compiles and distributes class attendance data to leadership.

  • Reports on progress of programs and employee successes during training.

  • Conducts data entry for quarterly and annual grant reports to grant funders.

  • Processes and maintains tuition reimbursement records.

  • Collects training program data and analyzes the impact of training programs.

  • Assists Leaders by delivering training in support of employee coaching.

  • Builds and maintains employee and leadership relationships.

  • 2+ years of experience delivering training programs to adult learners.

  • Strong skills in program design, delivery and evaluation.

  • Outstanding verbal, written and presentation/facilitation skills.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects, activities and deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and with initiative.

  • Ability to develop relationships at all levels.

  • Ability to work positively and productively in fast-paced environment.

  • High-level proficiency in use of Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and HRIS databases; SAP and UltiPro experience preferred.


  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Instructional Design, Adult Education, or English, and/or equivalent combination of experience and education that enables performance for this position.

Requires knowledge of:

  • Learning development and/or instructional design.

  • Experience and knowledge in training techniques.

  • Program coordination or program management.


  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively to multiple levels within the company.

  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and explain program data.

  • Ability to write business correspondence and technical documentation.


  • Requires addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averaging, percentages, common algebra, and numeric groupings.


  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks, duties, programs, and changing priorities.

  • Must be able to deliver results through others.


  • Certified Trainer, Master Trainer, Certified Professional in Learning & Performance or current or former education credential preferred.

Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.


  • Ability to work at computer workstation for long periods of time.

  • Ability to occasionally to frequently engage employees and leaders on the manufacturing floor, when needed.

  • Consistent daily attendance to provide necessary level of internal customer service.

  • Generally work in air-conditioned office environment



Ability to travel occasionally domestically.


Occasional: activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.

Frequent: activity exists 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
